DEGREE PROGRAM
Masters in Business Administration – Major in Entrepreneurship and Microfinance (MBA-MEM) (90 days spread over one year)
If you are a manager of a microfinance institution (MFI), rural bank, cooperative, or a social development organization, this MBA is for you! Micro and small entrepreneurs are also encouraged to attend this course.
Enrolees of this program have attested to the following gains:

This program is a tripartite partnership of the University of Makati (UMAK), ABS-CBN Bayan Foundation, Inc., and the Center for Community Transformation (CCT).
STRATEGIC PLANNING SERIES
As we enter the second semester of 2008, most enterprises schedule their strategic planning workshops. Bayan Academy has scheduled several programs that will help you and your organization as you embark on your competitive journey in 2009. You may refer to the attached calendar for the dates of each program
Strategizing and Scanning Your External Environment (3 days)
As the second semester of each year sets in, enterprises prepare for the succeeding year’s competition. Coupled with sessions on analyzing your environment, this program expands your prospective towards surpassing competition. Embark on an introspective journey of your enterprise as well – and know your competitive advantage.
The Mini-MBA (10 days)
Are you ready to take on higher challenges? Do you feel that you need to gain more knowledge and better skills for your increasing responsibilities? Attend our mini-MBA course! Gain the benefit of learning from experienced faculty from premiere schools and be guided by a class mentor. Learn about your own industry and others from other participants. (Hint! This is also a good pre-MBA for our MBA program on entrepreneurship and microfinance.)
Program and Project Management
Would you like your team to be equipped with the knowledge and skills to handle your special project? Are your leadership skills tested with the difficulties you are facing with your project? Or are you excited to expand your horizons with your new projects? This program will help you with just that.
Fundamentals of Management Processes (3 days)
Are you ready to take on a new challenge at work? Is it your first time to be part of management? Learn the fundamentals of planning and budgeting, organizing and staffing, evaluating and monitoring, and leading, directing, and controlling.
The Business Plan Tool Kit (3 days)
Beyond articulating your strategies, institutionalize your plans by learning how to write it into a formal business plan. In this program, learn about concepts on business planning – in a tool kit format. Corporate executives, entrepreneurs, MBA students, and others who need to prepare a business plan are encouraged to attend this course.
ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND MANAGEMENT SERIES
Start-up entrepreneurs, long-time entrepreneurs, and small, medium, and large entrepreneurs – and intrapreneurs – are all invited to join us in this series. You want to be updated with the latest tools that can help you manage and propel your venture.
A Basic Course for Developing Enterprises (ABCDE) (5 days)
If you are a start-up enterprise, then this course is for you. Learn about the alphabet of developing your enterprise or planning to start one: “A” – Assessing the Market, “B” – Business Planning, “C” – Conducting the Enterprise, “D” – Developing Your People, and “E” – Evolving the Enterprise. A complete cycle of knowing your market to bringing your enterprise to higher challenges is the thrust of ABCDE.
Opportunity Seeking, Screening, and Seizing (3 days)
Opportunities abound but do you know how to take advantage of them? Learn the 3 Ss of opportunities – SEEK, SCREEN, and SEIZE! Learn how to spot opportunities (and where to find them). Gain the skill of screening the right opportunities for you – and seize them!
Entrep Inside! (Organizational Diagnosis, Design, and Development) (2 days)
What is happening in your organization? Attend this course and unravel the processes that can help move your company forward. Create that responsive organizational design that shall delight your customers. Develop a competitive enterprise that epitomizes an agile, entrepreneurial organization.
ENHANCING PERFORMANCE
7 Ps of Marketing (2 days)
Are you new in marketing? Learn the fundamentals and be knowledgeable and conversant with your colleagues about the basic marketing frameworks. Practical application is simulated through live case discussions and lectures. Experienced faculty will walk with you as you enter the world of marketing.
Marketing and Consumer Research (2 days)
Learn how to provide better information regarding your environment, your customers, and other stakeholders as you go through our course that will teach you how to do surveys, focused group discussions, and other research instruments. Learn how to analyze and use them in making important decisions for your enterprise.
New Product Development (2 days)
Is innovation your cup of tea? Are you interested in evolving your current product line to something that is more responsive to your customer’s needs? This program will dissect the process of developing new products for you. Creative (and not-so-creative) minds are welcome to this course.
Upsize! (A Service Marketing Course) (2 days)
Delighting your customers is one of the ultimate objectives of any business enterprise. Provide a new dimension to the term “value added” for your customers. More than answering to their need, know your customer’s nuances and learn how you can translate this to a better relationship with them (and better profits for your company).
The Operations Manager (2 days)
Is efficiency the game that you play in your organization? Is effectiveness also bothering you? As in any enterprise, economy is also something valued. Learn about the three Es of the Operations Manager in this course – efficiency, effectiveness, and economy. Know how to manage the various elements that affect your work. (Note: Non-Operations Managers are also welcome to this course – most especially if you have similar concerns.)
The Language of Business: An Introduction to Finance (3 days)
Gain more insights about your division or organization by learning more about its “language!” This course will help you analyze and appreciate the “story behind the numbers” as you go through various case studies and exercises. (Hint: If you still want more, attend “The Finance Tool Kit.”)
The Basic Finance Tool Kit
How much is your company worth? Do you know the “value” other entities are willing to pay for it? If you want to expand your business, how much financing will you require? Valuating and financing are just some of the topics that will be taken up in this course. Coupled with practical lectures on actual situations, exercises and case discussions complete your appreciation of advanced topics in finance. (For Beginners in Finance, you may also attend this course after attending “The Language of Business.”)
Managing Costs, Profits, and Risks
You may already be familiar with Finance and Accounting terms but would like to learn more about special topics. This program provides complementary topics to the first two topics on basic finance. Although it sounds simple, managing costs and profits have perpetually been that balance that all organizations aim to achieve. Risk management is another aspect that they want to become experts as well. Attend this course and learn how you can be a better financial manager on these aspects. (You may be interested in taking the two other Finance courses, too.)
